Countdown: Stay-at-Home

15 days until I am done with work!!
Hello All! It has been a while since I last posted anything on this blog so I wanted to update you all. hudson is seven months old today!! Time has totally flown by. He is in to all sorts of exciting things now. In no particular order they are: kissing mommy and daddy, grabbing EVERYTHING and putting it in his mouth, staring at his hands, bouncing in his exersaucer, sitting up, spitting out baby food, and cooing and babbling on and on and on and on. Oh yea, he loves to look at pictures of himself or stare in to the mirror. He DEFINITELY is his momma's baby.

One funny story to share with all of you. I know this is good because I e-mailed it to mom and dad and they cracked up. Hudson has been having horrible diaper rash the past week and a half and I have tried every cream under the sun and multipe home remedies with no success. After listening to what my friend, the pediatric nurse, does with her patients I decided to give "air exposure" a try. Two things I didn't keep in mind. Her population is pretty immobile and they have housekeeping services. Well, he was naked for all of 10 minutes and in that time he peed on the floor, the chair, the couch (twice) and me (three times). Not the best idea in the world. I had NO idea how far or how eratic baby boy pee can be. I tried to cover him with a towel and he seemed to pee around the towel. I tried to put the wee-block on and it fell off. I tried to put a pad under him and he peed over the pad. He had a blast but I spent the rest of the night trying to recover from the pee fiasco of 2008. Good news though, the diaper rash is nearly resolved. I found that petroleum jelly and cornstarch work well.

Hudson got his picture taken yesterday and hopefully we can get it posted soon. It is really cute but the story behind that is a good one too. HE WOULDN'T SMILE!! He had 5 adults at varying times making fools out of themselves trying to get him to crack a smile and he just looked at us like we were neanderthals!! He was not impressed with our efforts and we were not rewarded with a smile. Turns out the poor guy was super tired and just wanted to sleep. It could have been worse- he could have cried the whole time!!!
