It's Finished!!!!

Well, it only took 16 weeks in the making but the nursery is completely furnished and ready for Baby P whenever he should decide to make his grand entry. Take a look and tell us what you think! It is a little crowded but very cozy.

Weeks of Pregnancy

Since I am changing so quickly these days I have had Chris take a weekly photo of me starting at week 32 to note the progressive changes.
Week 32 is clear to the right with week 35 to the left. I am now 36 weeks but we haven't gotten that photo yet to add to the mix!!

Carolina Fan

If you have been following this blog you may remember an entry a month or so ago alluding to the fact that my child would be a steeler fan even though he is going to be a resident of the Tar Heel state. Well, a concerned friend of mine who happens to be a die hard Carolina fan took it upon herself to buy baby P four outfits in varying sizes to ensure he was appropriately dressed to support Carolina no matter what his mom said. I guess this will only conflict with my convictions during football season and we all know that it is basketball season in Carolina that really matters!!!

Childbirth Class- not for the faint of heart

This past weekend Chris and I spent in childbirth class. Neither of us knew what to expect but I dont' think we were alone. We learned the stages of labor and delivery as well as positions and breathing techniques and saw way too many birthing videos. Even though I will most likely use medications to ease the pain of child-birth the strategies they taught will still come in handy. Chris referred to class as my daily massage time because that was one thing that he as a partner could do to help me relax. I told him we needed to practise his technique for at least two hours a day until the baby is born!!

The best part of the whole weekend was when they showed the newborn segment at the end. It is so nice to think that at the end of all that pain will be the biggest blessing Chris and I have ever welcomed into our marriage. Am I scared? Yes, utterly terrified. However, if it were so horrible I and every other firstborn would be an only child!

5 weeks to Go!!!!

Hello all!

Just a little note to tell you what we have been up to. Today I hit 35 weeks which means I only have 5 weeks until I am at my due date! I have no expectations to deliver on time but one never knows. This weekend Chris and I head to the hospital to take a two day childbirth class. Chris is so excited he can hardly wait-(Imagine me saying that with sarcasm).

We have been taking pixs of my progress but have not gotten around to posting them. Stay tuned and I will get Chris to upload the latest and greatest photos of my ever growing belly!!

Visit Home; July 20-23rd

Hello All! Here is a collage of pictures from our trip home July 20-23rd. Chris was dissappointed he didn't get a picture of dad's Harley. He got to ride it a few times over the course of our visit and he REALLY liked it. He said he felt like one of the gang. "The Biker Gang" that is!

The picture to the far left is of our nephews, Justin (2yrs) and Bradley (4yrs). The top middle picture is of the fireworks that my sister had especially for my shower. Just kidding, they were to celebrate a town's anniversary. The bottom middle picture is of my brother, PJ, and his girlfriend, Bethany. The top right picture is of my sister and her family.

Memories of a departed youth!

Hello all! Well, I turned 30 this week! I actually turned 30 on the 30th of July. Not such a momentous occasion but enjoyable. I don't feel a day over 29!! One of my patients was shocked that I was so young!! He tried to cover it up by saying it was because I knew too much about nutrition to be so young!! I am very smart and therefore believed him!! Anyway, I will still be accepting gifts for those who forgot my birthday now through Christmas!

Also, I wanted to make sure you all know that you no longer have to be registered to leave comments. So, please let us know that someone besides Chris and I are using this thing and let us know what is going on with your families!!

Baby Shower in Pennsylvania

Heather typing- These are some pictures of my shower at home in PA from July 21st. It was such a fun time! I was blessed with a lot of great gifts for the baby and got to reconnect with my extended family and friends. It was also good for Chris as many of my guests had not yet had the opportunity to meet my sweetie. Let me take this opportunity to thank all of you who helped put on a very lovely shower.

Our future Steeler fan

Here we have a picture of the baby's favorite outfit- at least if his mother has anything to say about it. the bib was a gift from my Aunt Renee and cousins Beth and Michelle. The onesie came from my mom and the football (that chants when thrown) was from my best friend and her hubby. Even though this baby is being born in the tarheel state he will bleed black and gold!!!! Go Steelers.
Heather here. We are definitely getting closer to the big event. Yesterday we went for a tour of our hospital. We will be delivering at Durham Regional Hospital. I worked there briefly when I first moved to NC and it was odd to go in there knowing that I would soon be one of their patients. Overall, it was not quite the experience I had thought it would be. I felt excitement at the thought of getting closer to see my baby mixed with anxiety over all the stuff they told us. In some ways, I felt like we were playing the board game "worst case scenarios". However, Chris and I are determined to have the best birthing experience we can and can't wait to see our new little man! Only 7 more weeks to go!!
